The state of Wyoming is now accepting applications for teams interested in conducting research at the new Integrated Test Center for carbon utilization technologies, Gov. Matt Mead (R) announced Wednesday. “Every day, scientists, researchers and entrepreneurs around the world are making advancements in carbon utilization and storage technologies,” Mead said in a press release. “There is no better place to bring the best and brightest to test these cutting edge technologies than in Wyoming. The Wyoming ITC will be an incubator for game-changing technology and energy evolution.”
Researchers at the ITC will have access to 20 megawatts of coal-based flue gas, which will be split among one large and five small test bays. The new request for proposals applies to the large test bay, where teams will have access to 5 MW to 18 MW of coal-based flue gas to test their technology. Proposals are due by Dec. 12, 2016, and can be submitted online.
The facility is under construction at Basin Electric Power Cooperatives’ Dry Fork Station near Gillette, and is expected to be completed in late 2017.
