By ExchangeMonitor

The Washington Department of Ecology Nuclear Waste Program’s promoted Eddie Holbrook to be its new permanent deputy program manager, an agency spokesperson said Wednesday.

Holbrook, acting in the No. 2 nuclear role for the state agency since February, introduced himself to the Hanford Advisory Board during a meeting Wednesday.

“Holbrook has eight years of experience in different positions at the Nuclear Waste Program, including being a part of our compliance team and later as the program’s Waste Management Section manager,” the state spokesperson said via email. Holbrook has 15 years of environmental experience, the spokesperson said.

Jason Kemp will take over as resident inspector at Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, N.M., the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board announced Monday.

According to a Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB) press release, Kemp’s duties as resident inspector would include advising on safety conditions for the defense nuclear facilities at Los Alamos, participate in technical reviews for DNFSB, and act as a liaison between the Board and the lab’s management, the board said.

Prior to this position, Kemp’s spent 20 years as an engineer, including at DOE’s Los Alamos National Laboratory and Hanford Site in Washington state, and in the commercial nuclear power industry at Oconee Nuclear Station.

The Leidos-led landlord contractor for the Department of Energy’s Hanford Site in Washington state is seeking an experienced subcontractor for onsite fall protection training.

Leidos-led Hanford Mission Integration Solutions issued a modified request for proposal on Nov. 3, in the online System for Award Management. The updated due date for proposals is Nov. 21, whereas the original due date was Nov. 1, according to the notice.

The training, which would occur at the Hazardous Materials Management and Emergency Response (Hammer) Center would not entail a permanent full-time position, according to the procurement notice.
