IN THE EPA
An Obama Administration official who helped craft the Climate Action Plan and who also worked for the Environmental Protection Agency under the Clinton Administration said in an interview late last week that since her early years at the EPA she has seen a shift in how businesses deal with climate change issues, with more major companies like Coke and Wal-Mart taking on issues such as carbon emissions and sustainability. “It’s now really a bottom-line business imperative,” Nancy Sutley, Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, said in an interview with former EPA Administrator and senior fellow at the Center for American Progress Carol Browner. Sutley added that the shift is going to be very important as the EPA and the country as a whole continue to deal with carbon emissions. Sutley announced late last year that she plans to resign the EPA effective this month. She has held her post as Environmental Council Chair since 2009.
