IN NRC
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is seeking public comment on the updated Zion License Termination Plan, submitted by ZionSolutions in December, according to a posting in the Federal Register this week. The plan included a decommissioning cost estimate for the remaining work, totaling $389 million. “The overall remaining decommissioning cost (including scope risk contingency) was estimated to be $389 Million (in year of expenditure dollars), with a base estimated cost of $358 Million (without the scope risk contingency),” ZionSolutions said in the license termination plan. According to the posting, the plan includes “details about the known radiological information for the site, the planned demolition and decommissioning tasks to be completed, and the final radiological surveys and data that will need to be obtained to allow termination of the NRC’s license.” Comments are due by May 26.
