The Energy Department’s Office of Environmental Management will host its next quarterly forum to discuss business opportunities in the legacy nuclear cleanup arena from 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 15 at DOE headquarters (Forrestal Building) in Washington, D.C. “Organized by EM’s Office of Acquisition and Project Management, the outreach event gives companies the chance to learn the latest news on doing business with EM and participate in dialogue about the program’s business opportunities,” an EM announcement states. There is no charge to attend, and pre-registration requires an attendee’s name, title, company name, and citizenship be sent to EM’s Carol Ward at [email protected] by Dec. 9. The U.S. Small Business Administration Section 8(a) Small Business Development Program has accepted North Wind Site Services, LLC, meaning the Oak Ridge Transuranic Waste Processing Center contractor is now designated as a small business and can receive contract awards set aside for such companies, as well as business development assistance from SBA, according to a Nov. 6 North Wind press release. “We are excited about North Wind Site Service’s new designation and how it can open new opportunities for our growth plan and offer a complete complement of environmental services to our customers,” North Wind President Chris Leichtweis said in a statement.
