Bruce Held retired from his position as Senior Advisor at the Department of Energy late last week. Held assumed the position of senior advisor last May, and before then, served as acting Under Secretary for Nuclear Security and acting National Nuclear Security Administration Administrator. “Bruce provided exceptional leadership over a critical 10 month period, helping to craft a realistic NNSA budget, working effectively with the Nuclear Weapons Council and the Congress, and enhancing communications and trust between DOE headquarters and field elements to advance our national security missions,” Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz said in a message to employees late last week. “In May 2014 Bruce returned to the Office of the Secretary as a Senior Advisor, providing trusted counsel on nuclear governance, lab management, cyber security and other matters. He championed the importance of organizational culture for our mission effectiveness across the entire department and worked tirelessly to enhance that culture in the public service tradition.”

Eight contractor executives were elected to the Board of Directors of the Energy Facility Contractors Group this week. Those elected to three-year terms set to end in June 2018 include Peter Diakun of Newport News Shipbuilding; Michael Graham of Bechtel National; Raymond Skwarek of Washington River Protection Solutions; Dyan Foss of CH2M; Linda Bauer of Consolidated Nuclear Security, LLC; and Linda Kobel of LATA. Moses Jaraysi of CH2M Hill Plateau Remediation Co. was elected for a two-year term set to end June 2017, and Jeff Stevens of B&W Technical Services Group was elected for a one-year term set to expure June 2016.
North Wind announced this week that it has named Brady Bigelow as its new chief business development officer. Bigelow previously managed environmental and construction projects for 17 years at Environmental Chemical Corporation. In his 25 years of experience, he has worked with numerous government agencies, including the Air Force Civil Engineering Command, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Land Management, and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, according to a North Wind release.
