IN THE INDUSTRY

B&W Technical Services Senior Development Manager Chuck Bernhard is retiring from the company effective Sept. 15. “He has been a valuable member of our team and we wish him well,” B&W spokeswoman Aimee Mills said in a written response. Bernhard has been with the company since 2003.

Mixed Oxide Fuel Fabrication Facility contractor Shaw AREVA MOX Services, LLC, officially changed its name to CB&I AREVA MOX Services, LLC, earlier this week. The name change comes after CB&I acquired The Shaw Group in early 2013.

IN THE NRC

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is planning to hold a public meeting Aug. 28 on the process for terminating the certificate authorizing uranium enrichment operations at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the McCracken County Public Library. Plant operator USEC ended operations at the facility last year and is preparing to return it to the Department of Energy for deactivation and eventual demolition. USEC has therefore requested the termination of its certificate of compliance, which is its license to possess and process uranium, according to the NRC.
