IN THE NNSA

Consolidated Nuclear Security (CNS), managing contractor of the Y-12 National Security Complex in Tennessee, is seeking expressions of interest for "architecture-engineering services" for an emergency operations center at the site, according to a sources sought solicitation posted by the Department of Energy (DOE) last week. The DOE said the new facility will be a "design-bid-build project" that will consist of "8,000 to 12,000 square feet of single-story office space to provide management of normal and emergency operations for the site." Requirements for the emergency operations center include offices that can support operations for approximately 20 people and emergency operations rooms that can support approximately 50 people. Other specifications include special air filtration systems, LEED Gold certification, and system monitoring capabilities, according to the solicitation. The DOE is accepting expressions of interest until Dec. 17, anticipates design solicitations in the first quarter of calendar year 2016, and seeks to initiate design by the second quarter.
