IN THE DNFSB

Zachery Beauvais has been appointed as the new Site Representative for the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board at the Pantex Plant, the DNFSB announced this week. Beauvais, a DNFSB staff member since 2010 who previously conducted safety reviews at both Pantex and Sandia National Laboratories, will take on this new role in August, according to the announcement.  Beauvais was appointed to “advise the Board on the overall safety conditions” of Pantex facilities, help conduct technical reviews of these facilities and serve as a liaison with the Department of Energy and Pantex contractors, the announcement says.

IN STRATCOM

Three B-52s assigned to the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot AFB have been deployed to the United Kingdom to demonstrate the U.S. ability to project its long-range strike capabilities and to allow synchronization of strategic activities and capabilities with allies and partners in the U.S. European Command (EUCOM) area of operations in June, according to a U.S. Strategic Command press release. Supported by over 330 Air Force Global Strike Command airmen, the strategic bombers are scheduled to conduct training flights with ground and naval forces around the region and participate in multinational exercises BALTOPS 15 and SABER STRIKE 15 over international waters in the Baltic Sea and land of the Baltic States and Poland. The bombers will integrate into activities including air intercept training, simulated mining operations during SABER STRIKE, inert ordnance drops during BALTOPS and close air support, according to the release.
