IN INDUSTRY

Former Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.), in her new position as a senior policy adviser with lobbying firm Van Ness Feldman, has joined the lobbying team for the FutureGen Alliance, according to a recently discovered lobbying disclosure form submitted to the Office of the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives Aug. 25. The FutureGen Alliance is the developer of the stalled FutureGen 2.0 oxy-combustion carbon capture and storage project. The project, a retrofit of an aging plant in Meredosia, Ill., suffered a major setback earlier this year when the Department of Energy suspended $1 billion in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds earmarked for the site as it appeared unlikely the project would meet the September 2015 spending deadline. Under the Senate ethics rules, Landrieu cannot lobby congressional offices for the two years following her departure from Congress. The former senator lost her seat last year. Landrieu can, however, lobby the administration. According to the form, Landrieu and four other lobbyists will conduct lobbying activities concerning “Funding issues regarding the FutureGen 2.0 project.”
