The National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Office of Major Modernization Programs will extend for six months its contract with TechSource Inc. for technical support services, according to a notice posted Wednesday.
TechSource received its current task order in August 2013 with an August 2016 expiration date and a ceiling of $3.58 million. The company’s work under the contract has included “providing subject matter expertise on information models for managing and tracking portfolio execution; analyzing current and previous infrastructure management best practices; developing briefing materials for senior leadership,” and related tasks, the notice said.
The NNSA’s latest modification extends the company’s performance period to Feb. 11, 2017, for an additional $362,041.81. TechSource will continue to provide support on information and data management, construction management, infrastructure and facilities management, and program capability-based investments.
The agency’s major modernization operations include its warhead life-extension programs and its major construction projects.

New Fire Chief Takes Over at NNSS
National Security Technologies (NSTec) announced Thursday it has selected John Gamby Jr. as the new fire chief for the Nevada National Security Site. Gamby, a 36-year veteran of the site’s Fire and Rescue Department and deputy fire chief since 2001, was promoted following the retirement of Chief Chuck Fauerbach two weeks ago, according to a press release from the NNSS management and operations contractor.
Gamby will lead the department’s operations, covering 1,360 square miles with 21 paramedics, 39 firefighters, 23 vehicles, and two stations, NSTec said. The fire department also services nearby jurisdictions such as Pahrump, Beatty, and Armagosa Valley, along with Creech Air Force Base.
Works Begins on Pantex Administrative Support Complex
Construction of the Pantex Plant’s new Administrative Support Complex is underway, Consolidated Nuclear Security (CNS) announced last week. The 343,000-square-foot complex will relocate employees from aging facilities and into new office space for approximately 1,100 employees – one-third of the workforce – at the nuclear weapons assembly and disassembly facility, CNS said.
The three-story complex will also include an auditorium, conference center, cafeteria, and health facilities, and construction is scheduled to take roughly two years, CNS said. The contractor previously noted that LawlerWood, LLC, is the company set to develop the facility.
CNS Deputy Enterprise Manager Michelle Reichert said in the latest statement: “The ASC will allow us to consolidate administrative functions from over 35 legacy facilities at the Pantex site into one modern, energy efficient facility. This will allow us to take the resources that we’ve being dedicating to those older facilities and concentrate them in facilities for the enduring mission we have at Pantex.”
