The National Nuclear Security Administration plans to extend its task order with TechSource Inc. for technical support services for the agency’s Office of Advanced Simulation and Computing and Institutional R&D Programs, according to a notice posted last week.
The NNSA’s advanced simulation office provides technical guidance to create and manage computational modeling and simulation capabilities used for the stockpile stewardship program, which maintains the reliability of the U.S. nuclear arsenal without full-scale explosive testing.
This division is responsible for “predictive simulation and virtual prototyping capabilities based on advanced weapons codes that are critical to the Stockpile Stewardship Programs,” the notice said.
The NNSA will modify the contract to extend TechSource’s period of performance for an additional two months to allow more time to issue a new task order, the notice said. The current task order was awarded to the company in September 2013 and expired Sunday.
The work features a total ceiling price of $4.4 million, the notice said. It noted the government plans to award a follow-on task order for these technical support services by May 26.
