WHITE HOUSE NOMINATES NEW DEFENSE BOARD MEMBER

By ExchangeMonitor

The White House earlier this week announced plans to nominate Kenneth Mossman to serve on the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board. Mossman is currently a professor of health physics at Arizona State University and an Administrative Judge for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Atomic Safety and Licensing Board. If confirmed by the Senate, Mossman would replace Jack Mansfield, whose term officially expired in October 2011. DNFSB members typically remain, though, until a replacement is confirmed or until they retire. From 1997 to 2004, Mossman served as Director of the University Office of Radiation Safety at Arizona State University, and from 1990 to 1992 he served as the University’s Assistant Vice President for Research. He also was a professor at Georgetown University Medical Center from 1973 to 1990.
