WEST VALLEY CONTRACTOR CHBWV EARNS 60 PERCENT OF AWARD FEE

By ExchangeMonitor

West Valley cleanup contractor CH2M Hill B&W West Valley, LLC, earned about 60 percent of its available award fee in the period from the beginning of March through the end of August 2013, netting a total of $200,000 out of $331,178 available. According to an award fee determination scorecard the Department of Energy posted recently, the contractor earned its lowest mark, a “satisfactory” rating, in project management. “The primary factors that led to this assessment were schedules still demonstrate the need for detailed planning and traceability,” the scorecard states. “Field level schedules provided to Federal Project Directors are not integrated, either horizontally or vertically, with the baseline schedule. Work planning associated with the site security control account management, especially as it relates to the identification and planning for the issues associated with reduced FY 14 funding was also a concern.”

CHBWV did earn “very good” ratings in safety and health quality management and environmental and regulatory strategy. “Factors positively influencing the rating include successful implementation of the CHBWV Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS); notable Quality Assurance and Emergency Management performance; commendable Radiation and Safety support for the O1-14 building demolition; positive responses to incidents and lower threshold events; effective Beyond Target Zero Teams; and consistent, constructive and, interactive senior management field presence,” the scorecard states.
