UK NDA KICKS OFF BIDDING PROCESS FOR MAGNOX

By ExchangeMonitor

The U.K. Nuclear Decommissioning Authority yesterday officially asked the four teams in the running for the Magnox contract to submit bids, which will be due in early November. The contract award, which is expected to be announced in March, will be for the management and cleanup of the U.K.’s 10 Magnox power plants, along with the Harwell and Winfirth research sites. Teams in the running include a Bechtel and EnergySolutions team called Reactor Site Solutions, the Babcock Fluor Partnership, CAS Restoration Partnership, made up of CH2M Hill, Areva and Serco, and UK Nuclear Restoration, a team of AMEC, Atkins and Rolls Royce.

Yesterday’s Invitation to Submit Final Tenders came after the NDA’s nine-month dialogue process, in which bidders made site visits and took part in formal discussions with the NDA in preparation for bids. “The formal dialogue period has concluded successfully, after a huge amount of time and effort by all parties. This really formed the crux of the competition process, enabling the participants to understand our requirements and secure the information needed to put their proposals together,” NDA Competition Programme Manager Andrea Livesey said in a statement.
