Triad National Security, incoming management and operations contractor for the Los Alamos National Laboratory, filled out some of the lower levels of its organization chart this week, identifying 11 more employees in its science, operations, and weapons stovepipes.
The recently identified Triad execs are:
Weapons Mission:
- Michael Bernardin, associate laboratory director, weapons design. Bernardin is now associate director for weapons physics for incumbent Los Alamos manager, Los Alamos National Security (LANS).
- James Owen, associate laboratory director, weapons engineering. Owen is now associate director for weapons engineering and experiments for LANS.
- David Eyler, associate laboratory director, weapons production. Eyler was until recently executive vice president and chief operating officer for the Fluor-led Savannah River Nuclear Solutions management and operations contractor for the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site.
- Frank Gibbs, director, actinide operation. Gibbs was most recently vice president of nuclear operations and the vice president for decommissioning and waste management for Canada’s state-owned Atomic Energy of Canada. Gibbs was once lead plutonium development engineer for the W88 warhead at the former Rocky Flats pit factory near Denver.
Mission Operations:
- Michael Hazen, associate laboratory director, environment, safety, health & quality and safeguards and security. Hazen, an Air Force veteran, is now a senior associate with the Longenecker & Associates consulting firm near Washington. He was previously vice president of infrastructure and operations and chief security officer for former Sandia National Laboratory prime Sandia Corp.
- Kathye Segala, associate laboratory director, capital projects. Segala was most recently executive director of capital projects with Fluor Federal Services.
- LeAnne Stribley, associate laboratory director, business management. Stribley was most recently director of the acquisition and management services division for the Battelle-operated Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
- Bret Simpkins, associate laboratory director, facilities and operations. Simpkins was lately director of facilities and operations at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory: another Battelle-managed lab.
Mission Enabling Science and Technology:
- Nancy Jo Nicholas, associate laboratory director for global security. Essentially the same title she has at LANS now.
- Antoinette Taylor, associate laboratory director, physical sciences. Taylor is now deputy associate director of the chemistry, life and earth sciences division for LANS.
- Patrick Fitch, associate laboratory director, chemical, earth and life Sciences. Fitch was most recently president of the Battelle National Biodefense Institute.
Triad National Security includes senior partners Battelle Memorial Institute, the Regents of the University of California, and the Regents of Texas A&M University, and junior industry teammates Fluor Federal Services, Huntington Ingalls Industries/Stoller Newport News, Longenecker & Associates, TechSource, and Merrick & Co.-Strategic Management Solutions.
Triad is set to take over at Los Alamos Nov. 1.
Last week, Triad announced its senior managers, including new lab Director-to-be, Thomas Mason. Of those five, two including Mason come from the Battelle side of the business, while three come from the incumbent, LANS.
