Congress is in session. Here are some public events related to defense- and civilian-nuclear matters that the Exchange Monitor staff is tracking this week:

April

12 – Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Virtual workshop with the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) on spent fuel performance margins. Continued discussion on NEI’s 2019 white paper on spent fuel storage. Register for remote access here. 1:00 P.M. Eastern time.

14: The DOE Environmental Management Site-Specific Advisory Board for Northern New Mexico meets virtually from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Mountain Time. Members of the public may register online.

15: The Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources holds a hearing at 10 a.m. Eastern Time on the role of the Department of Energy in American innovation. 

15: The Department of Energy’s Carlsbad, N.M. office will hold a virtual briefing at 6 p.m. Mountain Time to discuss data related to the planned restart of the 700-C underground ventilation fan.

NEW: Via public records request, I’ve been able to confirm reporting today that a warrant has been issued for DOE deputy asst. secretary of spent fuel and waste disposition Sam Brinton for another luggage theft, this time at Las Vegas’s Harry Reid airport. (cc: @EMPublications)
