Here are some events related to defense and civilian matters that the Exchange Monitor staff is tracking this week:

Dec.

06-10 – The House, then the Senate, were scheduled to vote on a compromise National Defense Authorization Act, media reported. The compromise bill would replace a version of the annual military policy bill that the Senate  last week decided not to vote on because of disagreement about amendments to that bill.

07-09 – Energy Communities Alliance, Energy Facilities Contractors Group, Department of Energy Office of Environmental Management: National Cleanup Workshop. Hilton Alexandria Mark Center – Alexandria, Va.

07 – Heritage Foundation, virtual panel discussion: U.S. Nuclear Declaratory Policy and the Future of Extended Deterrence. Speakers include Sen. James Risch (R-Idaho), the ranking Republican on the Foreign Relations Committee, and Taro Kono, a liberal democratic member of Japan’s House of Representatives and the country’s former minister for foreign affairs. NEW: Via public records request, I’ve been able to confirm reporting today that a warrant has been issued for DOE deputy asst. secretary of spent fuel and waste disposition Sam Brinton for another luggage theft, this time at Las Vegas’s Harry Reid airport. (cc: @EMPublications)
