Here are some public events related to defense- and civilian-nuclear matters that the Exchange Monitor staff is tracking this week:

April:

26: POLITICO Playbook will host a virtual interview with Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm to discuss the Biden administration’s infrastructure and climate plan. Register here for access to the virtual panel scheduled for 11 a.m. Eastern time.

27: The Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board will host a closed briefing at 1 p.m. Eastern Time on the Status of  Savannah River Site Building 235-F.

28: A virtual diversity summit for the Oak Ridge Site in Tennessee and sponsored by UCOR and Roane State Community College is scheduled for 9 a.m. Eastern Time.

28: The West Valley Citizen Task Force meets virtually at 6:30 p.m.

NEW: Via public records request, I’ve been able to confirm reporting today that a warrant has been issued for DOE deputy asst. secretary of spent fuel and waste disposition Sam Brinton for another luggage theft, this time at Las Vegas’s Harry Reid airport. (cc: @EMPublications)

Waste has been Emplaced! 🚮

We have finally begun emplacing defense-related transuranic (TRU) waste in Panel 8 of #WIPP.
