Teresa Robbins has been selected to be deputy manager of the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Production Office, overseeing operations at the Y-12 and Pantex nuclear weapons plants. Her selection was announced in an internal message to federal employees this week, but there are reportedly additional steps in the approval process before it becomes official. An NNSA spokesman declined to comment on the issue this week.

Robbins has been on the federal staff at Y-12 since 2000, currently holding the title of acting assistant manager for environment, safety, health and quality. In 2007, she was selected as co-recipient of the NNSA’s Federal Safety Professional of the Year Award. The role of deputy manager at NPO has been filled by multiple individuals on an acting basis—including Karl Waltzer, Dino Herrera and Lloyd Deserisy—since Dan Hoag was reassigned to the federal site office at Oak Ridge National Laboratory after the Y-12 security breach in 2012. Robbins holds a nuclear engineering degree from the University of Tennessee. Before coming to work at Y-12 in 2000, she served as a facility representative at the Rocky Flats Site in Colorado.
