Swift & Staley Wins Another Term as Paducah Service Contractor

By Staff Reports

The Department of Energy said Thursday that Paducah, Ky.-based incumbent Swift & Staley has won the new $160-million Paducah Infrastructure Support Services Contract.

The contract runs about five years with a 60-day transition period, a 34-month base period and 24-month option period, DOE said in the press release announcing the deal.

The transition period presumably should be uneventful, given that Swift & Staley is already providing landlord services at the former gaseous diffusion plant site in Kentucky, under a $224-million deal that started in December 2015 and is scheduled to run through March 31.

The new deal is a hybrid agreement that includes some firm-fixed-price, cost reimbursement elements along with indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract line items, according to the release.

The agreement designed to support Paducah’s cleanup mission by providing includes a wide array of tasks such as safety and security, records management, property management, pest control, snow removal, road maintenance and building upkeep.

In addition to the eventual contract winners, other firms that kicked the tires during an industry day in February included Atkins, GEM Technologies, and Navarro Research and Engineering.
