Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory posted a sources sought notice seeking companies interested in completing demolition work at the Old Town area of the lab. The University of California may set aside the contract for small businesses “if a sufficient number of small businesses are pre-qualified,” according to the notice. The work is expected to cost between $14 million and $19 million and take about 180 days. Responses are due April 7, and a site visit is scheduled for March 25. The University is also considering a separate small business procurement for engineering design work for the demo work, and released a sources sought notice for that contract in October (WC Monitor, Vol. 24 No. 42).
The Lab’s Old Town section covers seven buildings totaling approximately 56,000 gross square feet and four concrete slabs remaining from former buildings. “This project includes the disconnection of utilities, abatement, demolition, soil remediation and site stabilization of multiple buildings and slabs within the Old Town Area of LBNL,” states the sources sought notice. “The Old Town area of LBNL is in close proximity to the vibration sensitive Advanced Light. Most buildings in Old Town were constructed during and post WWII as research and/or support facilities.”
