SMSI COMPLETES TRANSITION TO DUF6 SUPPORT CONTRACT

By ExchangeMonitor

Strategic Management Solutions, LLC, today completes its transition to the Department of Energy’s new contract to provide support services for the Depleted Uranium Hexafluoride Conversion Project at the Paducah and Portsmouth sites. DOE awarded the contract to SMSI in May, after the company successfully challenged DOE’s earlier award to Navarro Research and Engineering. SMSI’s size standard appeal to the Small Business Administration claimed that Navarro did not meet the small business parameters in the contract. DOE had originally intended to have a new contractor in place by July 1, but transition was stretched out another month due to the later-than-anticipated award. The $22 million task order covers providing a variety of services to the DUF6 conversion project, and is set to run for up to five years, consisting of a three-year base period and two one-year option periods.
