Small biz protests National Training Center award

By ExchangeMonitor

Akima Systems Engineering, Herndon, Va., protested the award of a potentially $340-million operations and maintenance contract at the Department of Energy’s National Training Center in Albuquerque, N.M., which the agency in December awarded to Eagle Harbor, Manassas, Va.

Akima lodged the protest on Jan. 17, just shy of a month after DOE awarded Eagle Harbor the work on Dec. 22. The Government Accountability Office, which assesses bid protests, had not made the details of Akima’s public as of Monday morning. Typically, the office releases such details only after resolving a protest.

The National Training Center provides, among other things, security and safety training for nuclear-industry professionals at DOE and its semiautonomous National Nuclear Security Administration.
