The Senate Foreign Relations Committee is expected to vote today on the nomination of two key State Department nominees. The committee delayed a vote on Rose Gottemoeller and Frank Rose last month over concerns about a lack of commitment from the Administration to only undertake further nuclear weapons reductions through the treaty process. Gottemoeller is President’s nominee to be Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security and Rose is Obama’s pick to be Assistant Secretary of State for Verification and Compliance. Gottemoeller has been serving as the acting Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security since early 2012 when Ellen Tauscher left the State Department. The committee is expected to vote at a 12 p.m. business meeting, taking up the nominations of Gottemoeller, Rose and several other nominees.
