Senate Energy to vote on DOE, Interior secretary nominees

By ExchangeMonitor

The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee is scheduled to vote Thursday on whether to advance to the full Senate President Donald Trump’s nominees to head the Department of Energy and the Department of Interior.

The committee vote on the nominations of Liberty Energy CEO Chris Wright to be secretary of energy and former North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R) to be secretary of interior is scheduled for a committee business meeting set for 9:30 a.m.

The session will be webcast and available on the committee’s website.

Wright and Burgum underwent confirmation hearings last week. In addition to heading Interior, Trump plans to have Burgum head a National Energy Council, according to published reports.  Based on national media accounts, neither nominee is considered especially controversial and both are expected to win confirmation from the Republican-controlled Senate.
