SENATE ARMED SERVICES SETS TWO NUCLEAR-RELATED HEARINGS

The nation’s nuclear forces will be the subject of a pair of Senate Armed Services Committee hearings in several weeks. Strategic Command chief Adm. Cecil Haney will appear before the full committee at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 27 alongside Cyber Command chief Gen. Keith Alexander, while the panel’s Strategic Forces Subcommittee will hear testimony on the nation’s nuclear forces and policies at 2:30 p.m. March 5. Appearing at that hearing will be Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear and Missile Defense Policy Elaine Bunn, Global Strike Command chief Lt. Gen. Stephen Wilson, Air Force Assistant Chief of Staff for Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Integration Maj. Gen. Garrett Harencak, and Navy Strategic Systems Programs Director Vice Adm. Terry Benedict.
