SENATE ARMED SERVICES COMMITTEE CLEARS CREEDON NOMINATION

It’s on to the full Senate for Madelyn Creedon, the Obama Administration’s nominee to be the Principal Deputy Administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration. The Senate Armed Services Committee cleared Creedon’s nomination yesterday, though it’s unclear how long it might take for the full Senate to vote on her. Like Creedon, retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Frank Klotz is not facing any significant opposition, but his confirmation has been stalled in the Senate since September. Creedon was a longtime staffer on the Senate Armed Services Committee before moving to the Pentagon as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Global Strategic Affairs in 2011. This would be her second stint at the NNSA; she served as the head of the agency’s weapons program when the agency was established in 2000.
