A federal judge in New Mexico last week sentenced a former Sandia National Laboratories contractor to three years in prison for fraudulently steering procurement money to a moving company she owned.
U.S. District Judge M. Christina Armijo also ordered Carla Sena, the convicted 56 year-old former contractor from Santa Rosa, N.M., to pay back $643,000 she collected by awarding contracts to a company owned by her father. Sena was accused of awarding the company more than $2 million worth of work.
Sena was indicted Nov. 14, 2017. She arranged a plea bargain in December to avoid going to trial on three counts of wire fraud, one count of major fraud, and seven counts of money laundering. Those charges combined carried a maximum sentence of 190 years imprisonment, plus fines.
