Jennifer Granholm, former secretary of energy for President Joe Biden, is joining the boards of directors for Edison International and its regulated electric utility, Southern California Edison, the companies said last week in a press release.

Granholm, who is also a former governor of Michigan (D), will join the boards for both companies effective April 1, according to a Feb. 20 press release. In the release, Edison International, the public utility holding company, lauded Granholm’s Department of Energy experience, especially when it comes to cyber security and clean energy.

“Jennifer has an excellent background in energy technology, energy policy, safety and sustainability,” said Edison International CEO Pedro Pizarro in the release. Southern California Edison ran the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, which is undergoing decommissioning

Chantilly, Va.-based Parsons said recently it has bought TRS Group, an environmental remediation firm, in a cash deal valued at $36 million.

Parsons, a major contractor for the Department of Energy and other agencies, announced the deal in a press release dated Feb. 4.

TRS was formed in 2000 and is considered a leader in technology to address per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination affecting soil and groundwater, Parsons said in a press release. “The company has successfully completed more than 160 in situ thermal remediation projects, establishing itself as a proven operator in treating volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds, including PFAS, energetics, and pesticides, in soil, groundwater, and bedrock.”
