The U.S. Energy Depart expects within 15 to 60 days to issue a solicitation for a new Paducah Infrastructure Support Services contract to replace the deal now held by Swift & Staley.
The timeline set in the Jan. 10 notice would mean the request for proposals should be out by early March. The procurement will be a small business set-aside.
In December 2018, Swift & Staley received an $88 million, 22-month option to the original base period to provide support services at the former Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Kentucky. The Paducah company’s five-year, $185 million contract is now scheduled to expire in September.
The federal agency has set up a web page for the procurement.
The winning vendor would provide a wide range of landlord-type services, including road maintenance, upkeep of facilities, janitorial work, and management of property, roads, and the site’s the vehicle fleet.
The Paducah Site is spread across about 3,500 acres in western Kentucky near the Ohio River– including 750 acres that are actually inside the security fence.

On Dec. 11, the DOE said it could issue a draft RFP within 45 days for a new Idaho Cleanup contract to replace the $1.86 billion contract one currently held by Fluor Idaho that began in June 2016 and runs through May 2021.
Last July, the agency posted a similar notice for a new Oak Ridge remediation contract solicitation to replace the $3.2 billion contract held by URS/CH2M Oak Ridge (UCOR). The UCOR contract started in August 2011 and runs through this July. There is still no word on that one either.
