Report: Trump, if Elected, Would be Only Climate-Change Denying World Leader

By ExchangeMonitor

If Republican nominee for president Donald Trump is elected in November, he would become the only head of state in the world to deny the science of climate change, according to a report issued this week by the Sierra Club. “Trump has a history of engaging in conspiracy theories, and in that vein he has described climate change as a ‘hoax,’ ‘mythical,’ ‘nonexistent,’ a ‘con job,’ and ‘bullshit.’ He even said that ‘The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.’ Meanwhile, world leaders like the Prime Minister of Italy, Matteo Renzi, have described climate change as ‘a challenge that concerns us all: the future of the planet,’” the report says.

Reviewing statements made by the current leaders of 195 nations, the Sierra Club determined that not only would Trump be the only one in the world denying climate, he “might very well be the only world leader not calling for urgent climate action.”

The report consists largely of quoted statements from world leaders from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe acknowledging climate change.

The Trump campaign did not respond to requests for comment.
