The U.K. Nuclear Decommissioning Authority is planning on granting an extension to the Nuclear Management Partners contract to manage the Sellafield site that will include “more onerous terms,” according to a report in the Financial Times yesterday. The report did not include details on the length of the extension to URS-led NMP’s contract or what new contract terms may be. The NDA is expected to officially announce early this month the path forward for Sellafield after recently completing its review of the first five years of the contract, which came amid critical government reports of site management. The NDA declined to comment yesterday on the Financial Times report. NMP, composed of URS, Amec and AREVA, has managed the site since 2008 as owner of the site license company Sellafield, Ltd, under a contract that could potentially run up to 17 years.
