By ExchangeMonitor

While the Obama administration has halted the nuclear waste deep geologic repository at Yucca Mountain, Nev., there are still lessons to be learned from the unfinished Nuclear Regulatory Commission license application process. Speakers from the state and federal level will discuss the knowledge gained during development of the Yucca Mountain facility and how that can be used in carrying out a future nuclear waste storage solution.

The panel, “Lessons Learned from Yucca Mountain License Application Development Process,” is scheduled for 1:30 to 5 p.m. in Room 103AB. The scheduled speakers are  Bob Halstead, Executive Director, State of Nevada Agency for Nuclear Projects; Daniel Bullen, Former Member, Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board, Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board; Donald Vieth, Former Program Director, Yucca Mountain Project Office; Kenneth Skipper, Supervisory Geologist, U.S. Geological Survey; James Rubenstone, Deputy Director, Yucca Mountain Directorate, Nuclear Regulatory Commission; and Andy Zach, Professional Staff, House Energy and Commerce Committee.
