The United Kingdom will take center stage as the featured country at the 2016 Waste Management Conference.
The conference-opening plenary panel on Monday morning will feature John Clarke, Chief Executive Officer of the U.K. Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, along with Clive White, President of Clean Energy Europe, Amec Foster Wheeler (United Kingdom), and Dr. Monica Regalbuto, U.S. Department of Energy Assistant Secretary for Environmental Management. The speakers will address key issues in radioactive waste management in 2016 and going forward. The plenary begins at 8 a.m. in Room 301CD.
That will be followed by a featured country panel from 10 a.m. to noon in Room 105AB, where speakers will discuss nuclear decommissioning and remediation challenges in the U.K., along with the collaboration on technology and other areas between the U.S. DOE and U.K. NDA. Joining John Clarke, Clive White, and Monica Regalbuto in this session will be Rob Middleton, Head of Decommissioning and Radioactive Waste Policy, U.K. Department of Energy and Climate Change; Mina Golshan, Deputy Chief Nuclear Inspector, U.K. Office for Nuclear Regulation; Juliet Long, Legacy & Waste Issues Manager, U.K. Environment Agency; and Paul Howarth, Managing Director, U.K. National Nuclear Laboratory.
Additional U.K.-focused sessions are scheduled throughout the day and the conference.
