PNNL SEEKING VENDORS FOR REMOTE MONITORING SYSTEMS

By ExchangeMonitor

The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is looking for a contractor to provide a remote monitoring system for Global Threat Reduction Initiative work around the world, according to an Oct. 22 Request for Information. PNNL, which is one of the main labs supporting the National Nuclear Security Administration’s GTRI program, said it is looking to strengthen the security of radioactive sources at civilian sites and was interested in approximately 300 to 500 remote monitoring systems over three to five years. The systems would support “monitoring of tamper indicating devices, area radiation monitoring, and cameras located in rooms or bunkers containing sources.” The remote monitoring systems would be used as part of GTRI’s Nuclear and Radiological Materials Protection subprogram, which provides stopgap protection for at-risk nuclear and radiological materials until a more permanent threat reduction solution can be implemented. Interested companies are asked to submit a statement of capabilities to PNNL by 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time Nov. 22. Questions can be directed to Aimee Mendoza at [email protected].
