Chantilly, Va.-based Parsons said recently it has bought TRS Group, an environmental remediation firm, in a cash deal valued at $36 million.
Parsons, a major contractor for the Department of Energy and other agencies, announced the deal in a press release dated Feb. 4.
TRS was formed in 2000 and is considered a leader in technology to address per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination affecting soil and groundwater, Parsons said in a press release. “The company has successfully completed more than 160 in situ thermal remediation projects, establishing itself as a proven operator in treating volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds, including PFAS, energetics, and pesticides, in soil, groundwater, and bedrock.”
PFAS, sometimes dubbed forever chemicals, are found in fire-suppression foam, no-stick cookware and a wide variety of common products, have been an increasing concern for the Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in recent years.
