PanTeXas Deterrence got the green light from the National Nuclear Security Administration to begin taking over as management and operations contractor for the Pantex Plant located near Amarillo, Texas.
The transition to manage Pantex, the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) plant that services all U.S. nuclear weapons, will begin July 15 and end November 14, according to a press release from PanTeXas lead partner BWX Technologies (BWXT).
Additionally, BWXT told the Monitor that Kelly Beierschmitt will be the president and general manager of PanTeXas Deterrence. Beierschmitt has over 40 years of experience at NNSA sites, including 12 at Pantex at the beginning of his career and his recent position at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
PanTeXas Deterrence is a joint venture led by a BWXT subsidiary that also includes Fluor, the Texas A&M University System, and SOC, a Day & Zimmermann Company. BWXT also announced that the joint venture will include three small business subcontractors: TechSource, Los Alamos Technical Associates, and Mission Assurance Alliance.
