NRC PROPOSES NEW RULE ON SPECIAL NUCLEAR MATERIAL CONTROL

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is seeking public comment on a proposed rule that would strengthen the requirements material control and accounting of special nuclear material. The proposed rule adds stricter reporting standards for licensees that have 350 grams or more of special nuclear material, and it also clarifies previous language. The public comment period will extend until Feb. 18.
