ZionSolutions could face a civil penalty of $17,500 for security-related violations stemming from a routine agency security inspection at the Zion nuclear power station, according to a Nuclear Regulatory Commission release issued this week. Details about security-related violations are not made public, but the NRC did say the violations took place between June 2013 and February 2014. Although ZionSolutions has made corrective actions, the NRC proposed the civil penalty “to emphasize the importance of taking prompt and comprehensive corrective actions,” the release said.

ZionSolutions self-identified the violations, but has since taken corrective action, according to company spokesman Mark Walker. “We recognized the violation immediately and responded and implemented a corrective action plan to resolve the issue,” Walker said. “We are now following NRC direction regarding the proposed penalty.”
