NRC joins Instagram

By ExchangeMonitor

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is rolling out an Instagram account, the agency said in a press release Wednesday.

NRC’s new account on photo-sharing social media platform Instagram will be used to post photos, videos and graphics to “provide a more creative approach to information regarding the NRC’s mission, with a focus on the skilled and diverse employees who carry it out,” the agency said in its Wednesday press release.

In particular, NRC said on its website that it plans to share “new staff members, job opportunities, a diverse and inclusive workforce meeting the agency mission, travels by top officials and other topics” on its Instagram page.

The civilian nuclear power regulator launched its Instagram presence Wednesday with a sunset photo of its Rockville, Md. headquarters.

“Social media augments our news releases, website and other means we use to provide timely and transparent communications,” NRC chair Christopher Hanson said in the press release.

NRC’s new Instagram page can be accessed through the agency’s website for those without an Instagram account, alongside all of its other social media. The commission already uses Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and Flickr to share content with the public.
