Norway and European Commission Chat on CCS

By ExchangeMonitor

Carbon capture and storage was a main topic of a meeting last week between Norwegian Petroleum and Energy Minister Tord Lien and European Commission Vice President Maroš Šefčovič, the Norwegian government said Tuesday. “To achieve the ambitions of the Paris Agreement, CCS will be an important part of the solution. I am therefore glad to see the EU Commission continuing its strong interest in CCS, including the development of new CCS projects in Norway,” Lien said in a press release.

Norway announced last month its intention to launch studies into potential full-scale CCS demonstration projects. Gassnova, the nation’s state enterprise for CCS, is working on concept studies with an option for front-end engineering and design (FEED) for up to three proposed capture projects.
