Northrop Gets $7.6M Add-On to Advanced Launcher Development/Trident II Contract

By ExchangeMonitor
The Defense Department Monday announced a $7.6 million award to Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Northrop Grumman Systems Corp. that is part of a larger effort to improve the U.S. and U.K.’s shared Advanced Launcher Development Program and modernize the existing British Trident II Underwater Launcher System. Specifically, the award comes as a modification to a firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-incentive-fee, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract of $113 million originally announced Dec. 12. The modification will entail software upgrades, installation of New START Treaty-compliant hardware, and improvement of missile temperature monitoring capability. For the modification, the Navy will pay $1.6 million from its Fiscal 2014 weapons procurement budget and $5.6 million from other procurement funds, while the U.K. will provide $385,000 from its FY14 contract budget. Work is expected to be completed by March 2018. None of the funding will expire this fiscal year. Strategic Systems Programs is the contracting activity.
