Jim Carr, Canada’s minister of natural resources, will host U.S. Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz and Mexican Energy Minister Pedro Joaquín Coldwell next week in Winnipeg, Manitoba, “to build a foundation for greater continental focus on climate change and energy collaboration,” according to a Canadian government press release. “Working collaboratively with the U.S. and Mexico on clean energy and innovation is a key commitment of our government. I look forward to welcoming my colleagues,” Carr said.

According to the Feb. 2 release, the Feb. 11-12 session will be the first meeting of the energy ministers following the adoption of the Paris climate agreement in December. “The upcoming meeting in Winnipeg is an opportunity to promote joint efforts and identify new opportunities for trilateral cooperation,” Moniz said in the release.
