In the midst of a winter weather emergency that left millions without power and caused a nuclear plant to shut down in the Lone Star State, Waste Control Specialists’ waste storage site experienced no problems, a spokesman said Wednesday.
A representative for the 1,338-acre storage facility in Andrews County, Texas told Weapons Complex Morning Briefing in an email that the site was having “no issues” related to the current weather conditions.
As of Wednesday morning, 2.7 million Texans are without power according to the state’s power grid manager. South Texas Project Electric Generating Station’s Unit 1 reactor shut down on Feb. 15, but came back online Wednesday evening, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission said in a tweet.
