The National Nuclear Security Administration is looking for a new remote office site in Las Vegas for personnel who don’t need to regularly commute to the Nevada Nuclear Security Site some 60 miles to the northwest of the city, according to a recent procurement note.
The semiautonomous Department of Energy nuclear weapons agency “plans to replace the current NLVF [North Las Vegas Facility] with a new, right-sized campus for administrative and light lab operations in northwest Las Vegas,” according to a request for information posted online April 13.
The agency is considering buying land where it might build a new campus or acquiring an existing parcel of facilities it could redevelop, according to the request for information.
The current North Las Vegas Facility sits on about 78 acres and includes some 30 buildings with offices, a machine shop and other specialized facilities that support plutonium — and other — experiments at the Nevada National Security Site.
Those interested in assisting the National Nuclear Security Administration with its plans to develop its new Northwest Las Vegas Campus have until May 31 to reply to the request for information.
