NNSA SCUTTLES DUPLICATE EMERGENCY RESPONSE SOLICITATION

By ExchangeMonitor
The National Nuclear Security Administration has canceled a solicitation for technical support to the Office of Emergency Response Render Safe Stabilization Program because a contracting vehicle for the work already exists. The agency moved to kill the procurement yesterday, more than a month after issuing a solicitation seeking a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business to perform the work. “The Contracting Officer, based on newly obtained Government information has been made aware of internal contractual vehicles that are in place which properly and adequately cover the scope of work of this effort in its entirety,” the NNSA said in a notice posted on several government contracting websites. “The Contracting Officer was not aware of these a vehicles at the time of request/issuance of this solicitation. It is not the practice of the Government to award actions that are considered duplicate efforts to existing vehicles for same services and it is considered in the best interest of the Government as well as efficient use of public time and money to cancel this solicitation in its entirety.”
