NNSA Says Third Virtual Job Fair Drew 1,500

By ExchangeMonitor

Some 1,500 people showed up online Wednesday to check out job opportunities in the nuclear security enterprise during the National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) third virtual job fair of the summer.

Roughly 2,000 people registered to attend by providing resumes and other information, and most of those got at least some virtual face time with recruiters. Among the 1,500 people who logged on, recruiters with the agency and its major facility management contractors conducted more than 1,400 chats between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Eastern time Wednesday, an NNSA  spokesperson said by email Thursday morning.

The NNSA had more than 600 open positions to fill, according to a press release about the now-completed job fair. These included federal civil service jobs in the general engineering, management and budget, and physical sciences fields, plus positions in “all areas” with NNSA site management contractors across the country.

The NNSA began holding big job fairs in unclassified settings in 2018, shortly after Lisa Gordon-Hagerty was sworn in to lead the agency. After the COVID-19 pandemic spoiled plans to continue these recruiting drives in person, the agency moved the events online, hosting virtual job fairs in June, July, and now August.

The NNSA had not scheduled another virtual job fair, as of deadline Thursday.
