The National Nuclear Security Administration has begun gearing up to compete the management-and-operations contract for the Nevada National Security Site. This week, the agency announced in a presolicitation notice that it expects to issue a Request for Proposals for the new contract, which will be competed on a full-and-open basis, before the end of Fiscal Year 2015. The new contract is expected to have a five-year base period and a five-year option period, and is expected to be worth $500-600 million per year. The current NNSS managing contract is set to expire in September 2016, and is held by Northrop Grumman-led National Security Technologies, LLC, which also includes AECOM, CH2M, and Babcock & Wilcox. Comments or questions about the acquisition are due by June 2.
