The Energy Department’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) is looking for small businesses capable of identifying and classifying sensitive information from amid the reams of data generated by the nuclear stockpile steward.
In a sources sought request late Friday, the agency said a contractor selected in any subsequent procurement would have to handle classified work on a daily basis within the NNSA’s Office of Defense Nuclear Security Classification and Controlled Information Division.
The work would support about nine full-time employees per year, according to the document. If the agency does procure technical and analytic support services, contractors would need — or be able to obtain — DOE “Q” clearance: the agency’s equivalent, roughly speaking, of Top-Secret clearance.
The NNSA wants to hear from small business with $15 million in annual revenue. Teaming arrangements would be acceptable, the DOE branch in the sources sought document, provided a qualifying small business has at least a 50-percent stake.
Those interested in the work should reply to the sources sought notice by Sept. 2. Responses should be emailed to [email protected].
